How to Share Hosting and Domain Access
Website work sometimes requires access beyond your website editor. We will tell you whether we need hosting, domain or DNS access.
Know which account you need
Website platform: where you edit pages and content, such as WordPress, Wix or Squarespace.
Hosting: the service running your website. It may be bundled with your website platform.
Domain registrar: the company managing your website address and its renewal.
DNS provider: the service managing the records that connect your domain to your website, email and other tools. It may be different from the registrar.
Start with your provider
If you use another provider
- Find the provider name on a hosting or domain renewal email, or in your existing account records.
- Open its account settings and look for users, collaborators, delegates or account access.
- If an invitation option is available, use the invitation email and permissions in your onboarding checklist.
- If you cannot find an access-sharing option, send us the provider name and website address. We will identify the next step with you.
Do not change nameservers, DNS records or domain ownership just to grant access. Those changes are separate project tasks.
Not sure who manages the account?
Tell us your website address and anything you know about your current provider or previous website contact. If an account needs recovery, the account owner will need to complete the provider’s verification process.
Help me find my account →Let us know when you are finished
After you send the invitation or add our account, tell us which account you shared. We will check the permissions and confirm that access is working.
